Support and Service from the leader
Since 1970, Norland has been a leader in bone densitometry. Today Norland is the only world wide company dedicated to the
field of bone densitometry.
Norland Medical Systems provides a one year
warranty, service (local where available) and applications training and full support.
Norland Capital provides
''one-stop'' financing to United States customers including customized leasing, financing
and Cost Per Test services.
XR-36 Exception DXA Accuracy
Dynamic Filtration
[Dynamic Automatic Exposure Control]
Norland Medical System sell the only DXA system with DYNAMIC FILTRATION, which compensates
for the wide range in tissue thickness. Norland's DYNAMIC FILTRATION varies the x-ray
pencil beam intensity during the scan by changing the filters. These filters are inserted
or withdrawn from the beam path within a single pixel acquisition with no loss of data.
This assures each pixel will receive the proper exposure, regardless of the tissue
thickness. This results in the best accuracy and precision over the broadest range of
patient sizes, at minimum radiation dose.
Z Step Calibration
Norland's exclusive direct measurement calibration process measures 77 combinations of
phantom represented soft tissue and bone. Other manufacturers calibrate on a few points,
optimize for the average size patient, and extrapolate to both ends of the size scale.
Direct measurements eliminate errors associated with beam hardening at thick patient
sizes, and provide the foundation for superior scan performance.
Z scan for Auto Centering
During the AP spine exam, Norland's Auto Centering option ensures the vertebral column is
both centered and straight in the scan region.
Precise positioning
The XR-36 combines advanced patient positioning aids, scout scan technology, a laser
marking system, and intelligent scanning to assure highly reproducible and efficient
exams.
In vivo experiments indicate a significant improvement in
precision when using Norland's advanced hip positioning aid. The fixture rotates the mid
thigh to achieve a consistent measurement area in the femoral neck.
