Bone
Densitometry for -Fee Per Scan |
Why is Bone Densitometry Equipment needed in my practice ?1. Starting July 1, 1998, The Medicare Bone Mass Measurement Coverage Standardization Act will start guaranteeing payment for all bone scans performed on any patient at risk for osteoporosis whether positive or negative. 2. Medical practices that offer Osteoporosis Detection services to their patients are projected to significantly increase their revenues and strengthen their bottom lines. 3. Medical facilities can now use MEC's Bone Densitometry Equipment Placement Program to obtain the necessary Osteoporosis Detection equipment with NO capital investments, NO monthly minimums. 4. The average primary care doctor sees 54 women a week over the age of 50. 5. Of these 54 women, 30% have osteoporosis! 6. The current average of the number of patients diagnosed with osteoporosis per week is only ONE. 7. 25 Million people have osteoporosis in this country .... and DON'T know it! 44.5 Million MORE ARE AT RISK 8. Osteoporosis leads to 1.5 million fractures each year. 9. $18 BILLION is spent on treating those fractures. 10. 300,000 hip fractures occur each year. 11. 250,000 wrist fractures occur each year. 12. 500,000 spinal fractures occur each year. 13. 50% of the people suffering from a hip fracture won't walk again. 14. 20% of the people suffering a hip fracture die within one year. 15. A women's risk of developing a hip fracture is equal to her combined risk of developing breast, uterine AND ovarian cancer. 16. A Gallup survey of women ages 45-75 indicates that 3 out of 4 women have NEVER SPOKEN to a doctor about osteoporosis. 17. 250 Million women WORLDWIDE have osteoporosis now. 18. By the year 2020, the number of women affected will double. 19. Osteoporosis is a " SILENT " disease that can be deforming and painful. *Statistics provided by:

Message from the MEC/OBD
president:"As president, I have committed my company to providing medical facilities with "state-of-the-art" bone densitometry equipment to help them do a better job with preventing, testing for, screening for, detecting, diagnosing, and treating Osteoporosis which ravage so many women and men. Our diagnostic equipment will speed up the prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of Osteoporosis and osteoporotic bone disorders in men and women. The key to preventing Osteoporosis in women and men is early detection, diagnosis, and treatment. This means measuring, testing, screening, detecting, and diagnosing low bone mass in women and men early in their lifetimes so that effective treatment can stop the Osteoporosis dead in its tracks."
